Root CODE review
APPROVE for the bounded default/core hygiene repair. Root independently read
nonformat-reviewed.patch, the formatted-parent comparison and the final gate
receipts at owning base 7fe9ad368dc93ef136c196c2366b39f1c67e1cd7, compiled
closure f61c0ba0b475a463db1bc627a592b4f3c16c8dc88d8d3a723aba3766409fd1df.
Outside mechanical formatting the changes remove one redundant CLI reference, correct rustdoc markup and replace three equivalent test expressions. For the unchanged fixed odd Goldilocks modulus, ceiling division produces the same inverse-of-two value without changing expected results. Reverse search uses the same pure predicate and retains the same last matching trace row. No runtime algorithm, dependency feature, public API or benchmark logic changed.
Root executed nu audit/2026-10-16-release-hygiene/verify.nu .: current source
hashes, 25 retained raw receipts and the precise patch digest passed. A separate
check of all eight *-reviewed.json gate receipts confirmed zero exit status,
equal before/after inputs and the exact closure above. Owning manifest/lock diffs
are empty. Commands and numeric test results remain in the owning README.
The verifier originally required the owning checkout to remain at its pre-commit base, which would reject an unchanged committed candidate. Root corrected that audit-only check: the recorded owning base must be an ancestor, and every recorded compiler input must still match its exact hash. Dependency revisions remain strictly equal. Replay passed after this correction; no compiler input changed.
The plan is retained in .claude/plans/ under the repository development rules.
Parent optional-backend, consumer-version, historical performance and last-tag
API-baseline failures remain open. This approval establishes the stated repair;
it authorizes no version bump merge, tag, registry publication or release claim.
